Admission Requirements for Foreign Citizens
Applications for foreign citizens for the academic year 2024/2025 will be accepted from May 27 to September 20, 2024 (excluding weekends and holidays).
Foreign citizens who hold a high school diploma (Secondary Education) that grants them access to higher education in the country where the secondary education was acquired are eligible to apply to UACEG.
Admission of Citizens from Non-EU and Non-EEA Countries for the Preparatory Course
The applicant's overall grade point average from their high school diploma, as well as their grades in Mathematics and Physics, must not be lower than 62% of the maximum possible grade value.
Additionally, for the Architecture program, candidates must also have a corresponding minimum grade in Drawing.
Admission of Citizens from EU and EEA Countries
The admission of candidates for their desired specialties is conducted under the same conditions as for Bulgarian citizens, including entrance exams and ranking after successful completion of the preparatory course.

Admission of Persons with Dual Citizenship (One of which is Bulgarian)
Admission can be carried out either under the conditions for Bulgarian applicants or under the procedure for foreign citizens.
Persons with dual citizenship, one of which is Bulgarian, pay half of the tuition fees set for foreigners when admitted under the procedure for foreign citizens.

The preparatory year (10-month duration) is conducted in Bulgarian for specialties taught in Bulgarian, or in English for the Structural Engineering (English-taught) program.
Upon successful completion of the preparatory year, students receive a CERTIFICATE of completion, after which they are enrolled in their respective faculties and specialties.

- Application form (standard template) containing brief biographical data and the name of the program the candidate wishes to study;
- A copy of the high school diploma (Secondary Education) – for applicants applying for the full term of study;
- A document issued by a competent authority certifying the applicant's right to continue their studies at higher education institutions in the country where the secondary education was acquired;
- Academic transcript or higher education diploma – for applicants applying for a partial term of study or an Integrated Master's program;
- Copies of both identity documents – for candidates with dual citizenship (one of which is Bulgarian). If there is a name discrepancy between documents, the candidate must provide a notarized declaration of identity or a certificate from municipal authorities.
- Two photos (4/6 cm).
- Certificate of recognition of secondary education acquired at a school in a foreign country, issued by NACID (more information).
- A PDF file for each of the above points must be sent to E-mail: foreign_adm@uacg.bg for document preparation for submission to the MES. The filename of each file should include the document type and the candidate's name, e.g., "Diploma_Deniz Hakim.pdf", "Passport_Deniz Hakim.pdf", etc.
Foreign educational documents must be certified in the country of origin and by the seat of the issuing institution.
Documents under points 2, 3, and 4 must be officially translated into Bulgarian and legalized in accordance with international treaties or the general procedure for certifications and legalizations.
The processed documents are sent to the Ministry of Education and Science (MES), which issues an individual Certificate of Right to Study. Upon receiving it, the foreign citizen applies for a visa at the Bulgarian Embassy.
The year of study for partial-term applicants is determined based on the academic transcript or higher education diploma.
High school diplomas of EU citizens are legalized by the MES after admission to the preparatory year.
APPLICATION FORM for international students
Prospective students who have completed secondary education at a foreign school must present a certificate of recognized secondary education to UACEG, issued by the MES or NACID. This certificate must include the recalculated grades and overall GPA according to the Bulgarian six-point grading system (more information).
- Application form (standard template).
- Original and copy of the higher education diploma or equivalent document.
- Original and copy of the diploma supplement and the European Diploma Supplement (if available).
- Original and copy of an identity document and proof of name change (if applicable).
- Power of attorney (if applying via a proxy).
- Proof of administrative fee payment at the UACEG cashier's desk or via bank transfer.

Documents under points 2 and 3 (except for the European Diploma Supplement) from EU/EEA countries or Switzerland must include a Bulgarian translation by a sworn translator. Documents from outside these regions must meet bilateral treaty requirements or be Apostilled/Legalized.
According to the Higher Education Act, Art. 44b:
For continuing education in a regulated profession program, completed study periods and credits can only be recognized if the previous study was in the same regulated profession and at the same degree level.
Accelerated study in regulated professions is not permitted unless explicitly stated in state requirements.
Applicants may present their academic documents to the contact person for preliminary review by the recognition committee before formal submission.
Fees for Recognition of Higher Education:
Recognition of a foreign higher education diploma: 488.95 BGN / 250 €.
Recognition for applicants with existing MES/NACID certificates: 254.25 BGN / 130 €.
Recognition for UACEG internal application (another degree level): 127.12 BGN / 65 €.
Recognition of academic documents for periods of study: 215.14 BGN / 110 €.
Recognition of a foreign PhD degree: 488.95 BGN / 250 €.
Fees are payable via bank transfer or at the UACEG Rectorate via POS terminal.
